Course Highlights

WorkSafeBC Approved – Meets new requirement as of Nov-1-2024
Hands-On Training – Minimum of 7 hours of practical skills.
No Prerequisites – Open to everyone, no prior training required.
3-Year Certification – Issued electronically by the Red Cross upon successful completion.

Recertification

  • Must still hold a valid certificate at the time of class
  • Full day in class, no online portion needed
  • Must take the full course every time IF regulated by WorkSafeBC

Course Format

Blended Learning – Self-Study (Online & In-Class)
  • Duration: 8 hours online + 7.5 hours in-person
  • Online Portion: Can start / stop as many times as needed. We will email you the link for your online portion, which must be completed before coming to class and must come to class within six weeks of completing your online portion.
  • Certification Valid For: 3 years
  • Our blended format allows for flexibility and less time spent in person.

What You’ll Learn

  • Introduction to Standard First Aid: Overview of first aid principles and practices.
  • Recognizing Emergencies: Identifying signs of medical emergencies and the need for immediate action.
  • CPR C Techniques: Comprehensive training on CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants.
  • AED Training: Instruction on the proper use of an automated external defibrillator.
  • First Aid Skills: Hands-on training covering a variety of first aid scenarios, including: Wound care, Bone, muscle, and joint injuries, Choking response, Severe allergic reactions, Environmental emergencies, Practice Scenarios
  • Real-life practice scenarios to build confidence and competence in emergency response.

What to Bring

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport)
  • Comfortable clothing (practical exercises may involve movement)
  • Lunch and snacks for the day
